Covid-19 Vaccination

Please DO NOT contact your GP practice for a COVID-19 vaccination.

We need to keep telephone lines free for those who need healthcare most.

The NHS Covid-19 vaccination programme has started.💉

When it is the right time, people will receive an invitation to come forward. For most people this will be a letter, either from their GP or the NHS.

This letter will include all the information you will need to book appointments.

Please DO NOT contact the NHS to get an appointment until you hear from them.

More information on the vaccine is available here:

Why you are being asked to wait

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-vaccination-why-you-are-being-asked-to-wait

Invitation Process

The government has created a cohort system whereby patients will be invited to book a Covid-19 vaccination appointment in order dependent on age and health conditions. Patients will be contacted by telephone so long as we have an up-to-date telephone number. Please do NOT contact the surgery to ask about your vaccination. We will contact you when it is your turn.

Covid Vaccinations

In order for the vaccines to be as effective as possible, patients need to have 2 jabs. The current guidance is that these jabs should be 12 weeks apart. So far, we have received either Pfizer or Astra Zeneca vaccines. We get very little notice as to which vaccine we will receive and when it will be arriving. Patients are not able to choose which vaccine they receive.

Covid Symptoms

If you have Covid symptoms, are awaiting a Covid test result or have been told to isolate owing to contact with someone who has the virus, YOU MUST NOT ATTEND YOUR APPOINTMENT. If the surgery is open, please ring to cancel your appointment so the vaccine can be offered to someone else. You can be vaccinated at a later date.

Where to get your Covid-19 jab

The Endeavour Practice is a member of a network of practices called the Central Middlesbrough Primary Care Network. All the Covid-19 vaccinations for the practices in this network must take place in the same location. Our location is:

Thorntree Surgery, Beresford Buildings, Thorntree, Middlesbrough, TS3 9NB

DO NOT ATTEND THE ENDEAVOUR PRACTICE FOR YOUR VACCINATION.

Using public transport

If you need to use the bus service to attend your appointment, then the number 8 bus takes you to Beresford Buildings. It sets off from the bus station every 10-15 minutes Monday to Saturday and every 30 minutes on a Sunday.

Car parking

Patients can use the car park of the Thorntree pub which is directly behind the row of shops at Beresford Buildings. This is nearer to the entrance point for your vaccination. Alternatively, you can use the car parking in front of the shops or to the right of them. In order to get to the Thorntree pub car park, you should follow the car parking signs with the Central Middlesbrough logo on as at the top of this sheet.

Entrance point

There is a strict one-way system for the vaccinations. The entrance point is the Portakabin at the back of the surgery. Follow the signs that say “Entrance” on with the Central Middlesbrough logo on as at the top of this sheet.

Arrival time

We must avoid queues. Please do not arrive more than a couple of minutes before your appointment. Your appointment time is the time you should arrive at the entrance point. If you arrive by car and are early, please remain in your vehicle until just before your appointment time or until a marshall asks you to make your way to the entrance point. This is to ensure social distancing in the waiting areas and to ensure the safety of our patients and staff.

Clothing

Please wear loose-fitting clothing so it is easy for you to bare a shoulder.

Vaccination Process

Upon arrival, you will be asked some questions to ensure that you are able to have the vaccination. You will then be taken through to the main building to have your vaccination. A GP will be available if you have any questions.

If you have the Pfizer jab, then you need to enter the Observation Cabin after your vaccination. You must remain here for 15 minutes until a member of staff informs you that you may leave.

If you have the Astra Zeneca vaccine, you need to wait for 15 minutes after your vaccination. If you have come by car, you may return to it and wait there; you must not drive for 15 minutes. If you came by other means, you should sit in the Observation Cabin. After this waiting period has elapsed, you are free to go.

Second vaccinations

You will be contacted in due course about your second vaccination. Latest guidelines are that the two jabs should be about 12 weeks apart. It is important that you return to the clinic for your second vaccination when you are invited to do so.

Coming for your vaccine

Please attend for your appointment time, not too early in order to avoid queues. Ensure you wear a mask and attend alone where possible. ONLY attend the vaccine clinic when been told to by a member of our staff.
